Bio

As a photographic artist with an MA in photography, my practice has spanned 17 years exploring human interaction through moving ‘still image’ and traditional photographic methods, identifying ways of presenting people through portraiture.

My work represents people and their life experience, captured in a moment in time. My work has been extensively published through Millennium Images in the Sunday Telegraph and The Guardian and I have exhibited work with Petworth House and Pallant House Gallery.  In 2015, I was selected to show my work at the East Sussex Open at Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne.  I have also undertaken commissions and residencies for the Royal College of Physicians, English Heritage and Firstsite Contemporary Art.

I have enjoyed being lead artist on a number of initiatives, including Photoworks as a lead artist and facilitator for various education and learning projects with neuro diverse adults and LGTBQ young people.  I have also been involved with Watts Gallery as artist lead, engaging with young offenders (Feltham Young Offender Institute) and Bronzefield Women’s Prison.  A number of these initiatives were Arts Council funded and  most have seen genuine partnerships develop with communities and venues, engendering support and legacy.

Facilitation work

Alongside developing my own artistic practice I have designed and conducted participatory art and photography workshops since 2003.  I have developed a sensitive, improvisational style working with an extraordinary array of people in diverse settings. I have a profound commitment to the power of art and conversation to allow us to learn and understand more about ourselves, others, and our environment and an intuitive talent for creating spaces to share and learn.  I create opportunities for others to control their own image, art making and representation.

I have presented my participatory practice on an international platform at the Phototherapy and therapeutic photography conference in Turku, Finland in 2008, as well as presenting at the Photographers Gallery and Camden Arts Centre.

My facilitation practice has lead to working internationally running arts based projects, residencies and commissions in partnership with the British Museum, Tate Modern, National Maritime Museum, Photovoice, Photoworks, Fabrica Gallery, Focal Point gallery, Towner, Four Corners, HIV Alliance, Save the Children and Pallant House Gallery.
